1. Brush longer coats to keep them free of tangles and matts

2. Check for healthy gums and teeth—gums bright pink

3. Look out for any signs of worms, ticks or fleas and treat if necessary

4. Exercise REGULARLY

5. Watch that your dog is not putting on excess weight

6. Smell your dog’s ears—unusual odours might indicate an infection

7. Keep your vet’s number with you at all times—for your peace of mind and in case of an emergency

8. Check the length of your dogs nails and dew claws—clip (or let your groomer or vet clip them), if they are too long.

9. Wipe eyes to prevent any build up of ‘sleep’.

10. Provide a balanced healthy diet and plenty of company!
